MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sharon Beverly, a 2010 PhD graduate of Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, has been named Administrator of the Year by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Beverly, who is director of athletics and physical education for Vassar College in New York, received the honor on Sept. 28 at the ECAC Honors Banquet in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The ECAC Administrator of the Year awards are presented annually to administrators from ECAC member schools or conferences in recognition of outstanding or meritorious service. Beverly earned a PhD in Leadership for Higher Education from Capella in 2010. As of June 30, 2010, more than 38,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), with 31 percent enrolled in Capella’s doctoral degree programs, and 47 percent enrolled in Capella’s master’s degree programs.

Beverly, who has been involved in intercollegiate athletics for more than 25 years, is one of a select few African-American women athletics directors in the country.
The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic conference and only multi-divisional conference, with approximately 300 member institutions ranging across 16 states from Maine to North Carolina and westerly to Illinois.
